An early titanium Rolls Royce RB211 turbine.  The turbine is the stage one fan from a Rolls Royce RB211 jet engine, which formerly powered a Boeing 747. The turbine is made from titanium and dates to the mid 1970s. Mounted on a steel display stand. In 1970 a RB211 engine cost over Half a million dollars. In 1971 the production costs of developing the RB211 made Rolls Royce bankrupt.
